Day Pitney LLP today announced that Aileen C. Meehan has joined the law firm as a partner in its Corporate and Business Law Department. Meehan, who has more than 25 years of experience as a corporate transactional lawyer, will reside in Day Pitney's New York office. She was previously a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP.
"Aileen's experience in the areas of M&A and securities offerings will be a valuable asset to us as we continue to grow our footprint in New York," said David A. Swerdloff, chair of Day Pitney's Corporate and Business Law Department. "We are delighted to have Aileen with us and I know she will be a tremendous resource to the firm and to our clients."
Meehan works primarily in the areas of public and private M&A, stock and asset acquisitions, purchases and sales of private companies, and offerings of debt and equity securities. She also counsels clients on matters related to SEC filings and corporate governance issues. While her work has traditionally covered a wide range of sectors, her practice has a particular focus in the areas of insurance, retail and health care.
Some of Meehan's M&A work has included the representation of a publicly traded subprime mortgage company in its acquisition by a private equity buyer, the acquisition of several property and casualty insurance companies, the spinoff of a healthcare company and the sale of a high-end jewelry retailer. With regard to securities offerings and debt facilities, Meehan has served in the past as legal counsel to a specialty lines insurance company, a broadband technology company and a supermarket company in the midst of a recapitalization.
Meehan received a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and an A.B. degree from Princeton University.
