Day Pitney Welcomes Its 2009 Incoming Associate Class
Day Pitney LLP announced today that 13 first-year associates have started with the firm in four of its offices?- two in Boston, four in Hartford, CT, two in Stamford, CT, and five in Florham Park, NJ.
The first-year class is a diverse group of bright young professionals from top schools, including many with backgrounds that will be of immediate value to Day Pitney's clients. Among the group are an economist, an MBA holder, a LEED-certified professional, a New Jersey Supreme Court clerk and a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome these exceptional young attorneys," said Judith Babinski, a member of Day Pitney's executive committee. "We expect they will make outstanding contributions to the firm."

Erin M. Anderson?- Stamford Office
Ms. Anderson is a 2009 graduate of Boston College Law School and was awarded the Susan Grant Desmarais Award for Public Service Achievement and Leadership at graduation. She was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, Ms. Anderson was managing editor of the Third World Law Journal and her student note was published in fall 2008. She received her B.A. in government from Dartmouth College.?
Alex Aspiazu?- Boston Office
Ms. Aspiazu is a 2009 graduate of Boston College Law School and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, she was a member of the Women's Law Center Executive Board and a member of the Law Student Committee of the Women's Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Aspiazu was the recipient of the Boston College Law Scholarship. She received her B.A. in ethics, history and public policy, summa cum laude, from Carnegie Mellon University.?
Caroline L. Bersak?- Stamford Office
Ms. Bersak is a 2009 graduate of New York University School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, she was co-chair of the Health Law Society. Ms. Bersak received a B.A. in community health and a B.A. in public policy and American institutions from Brown University.?
Miranda A. Brown?- Boston Office
Ms. Brown is a 2009 graduate of the William & Mary School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, she was an articles editor for the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal, a board member for the Public Service Fund and a member of Student Legal Services. Ms. Brown received her B.A. in English from Yale University in 2006.?
Steven J. Fisher?- Hartford Office
Mr. Fisher is a 2009 graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, Mr. Fisher was editor-in-chief of the Quinnipiac Law Review. In 2007, he was an extern to the Honorable Vanessa L. Bryant at the U.S. District Court in Hartford. He received his B.A. in history and psychology from Grove City College.?
Lisa M. Gonzalo?- Florham Park Office
Ms. Gonzalo is a 2009 graduate of Fordham University School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. Her prior career experience includes eight years in the financial industry as a broker for A.G. Edwards & Sons and Prudential Securities. She also served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1990-1994 as a communication and navigation systems specialist for C-130E aircraft. She received the Air Force Achievement Medal in 1993. Ms. Gonzalo received her B.A. in political science with highest honors from Rutgers University.?
Jeffrey Adam Gruen?- Florham Park Office
Mr. Gruen is a 2008 graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, and he recently completed a clerkship with the Honorable Jaynee LaVecchia, Supreme Court of New Jersey. He was a summer associate with the firm in 2007. In law school, Mr. Gruen was a comments editor of the Seton Hall Law Review and interned for the Honorable Joseph A. Greenaway Jr. in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. He received his B.A. in psychology from the Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. in social psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.?
Samuel A. Jennings?- Hartford Office
Mr. Jennings is a 2009 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. In the spring of 2008, he was a law clerk with the Boston University General Counsel's Office. In 2007, he was a judicial intern to the Honorable Robert B. Collings at the U.S. District Court in Boston. He received his B.A. in history from Brown University, where he was the University Scholarship recipient all four years.?
Vahbiz P. Karanjia?- Florham Park Office
Ms. Karanjia is a 2009 graduate of Villanova University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. She was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. Ms. Karanjia was an extern for Judge Juan R. Sanchez, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, as well as a student attorney with the Clinic for Asylum Refugee and Emigrant Services (CARES). She received her B.A. in political science and history from the University of Michigan.?
Elizabeth N. Leaderman - Hartford Office
Ms. Leaderman is a 2009 graduate of Cornell Law School and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, Ms. Leaderman was president of the Environmental Law Society and hosted a multidisciplinary conference focusing on sustainable development. She is a LEED-accredited professional. In 2007, she was a clerk with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York. Ms. Leaderman received her B.A. in government and politics, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland.?
Julianne Lombardo?- Hartford Office
Ms. Lombardo is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. While in law school, she served as executive editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law and president of the Health Law Interest Group. Ms. Lombardo was the recipient of the CALI Excellence Awards in Evidence, Trial Advocacy and Legal Profession, and she was the recipient of the West Book Award in Health Law Activities. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Lombardo was a health care representative for Pfizer Inc. She received her B.A. in biology, cum laude, from Harvard University.?
Kevin J. Skelly?- Florham Park Office
Mr. Skelly is a 2009 graduate of Rutgers University School of Law-Newark and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. In law school, Mr. Skelly was a member of The Rutgers-Newark Law Review. He previously worked as an economist at the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and was a shop steward with the National Council of Field Labor Locals. He received his B.A. in economics and English, cum laude, from Boston College.?
Megan K. Tlusty?- Florham Park Office
Ms. Tlusty is a 2009 cum laude graduate of Brooklyn Law School and was a summer associate with the firm in 2008. During law school, she was a member of the Brooklyn Journal of Law and Policy, the Legal Association of Women and Phi Delta Phi. In addition, Ms. Tlusty was a recipient of the Dean's Recognition Scholarship and volunteered with the Courtroom Advocates Project. She received her B.A. in criminal justice and sociology with highest honors from Rutgers University.
