New Interim NJDEP Soil Remediation Standards for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS)
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) recently published interim soil remediation standards for four PFAS compounds: perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), and hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid and its ammonium salt (also known as GenX). The following interim soil remediation standards are effective as of October 17, 2022:
These new interim standards may have significant impacts on parties conducting remediation or environmental due diligence in New Jersey. We encourage all potentially affected parties to contact their respective environmental professionals and representatives to discuss potential implications.
