DeWitt Sullivan authored the article, "Six Steps to Successful Strategic Collaboration Among Partners," for the New Jersey Law Journal. Sullivan discusses the pertinence of teamwork in successful partnerships in order to service a client fully, generate revenue and to build a business. He cites knowing your partners and knowing your clients as the two keystone factors to strategic collaboration. Sullivan stresses the importance of servicing clients through multiple practices at your firm to diversify in case one practice is hit by a downturn and succession planning in case a relationship partner becomes unavailable.
Sullivan explains, "as with any successful endeavor, this takes a lot of work. The benefits, however, are long lasting and countless. If you refer work to your partners, they are sure to reciprocate, learn about your practice, and refer work to you." He expands, "you'll generate greater revenue for your firm; you'll build trust and loyalty with your clients. This is a win for everyone."
