Steven Cash authored an op-ed, "Director of National Intelligence Maguire Should Stand for the Whistleblower," published by The Hill. The piece focuses on protection for the whistleblower, whose complaint is at the center of the presidential impeachment inquiry, by the intelligence community and its acting director, Joseph Maguire. Citing the rule of law and the Whistleblower Protection Act, Cash describes the unique responsibility of the Intelligence Community leader to protect his fellow officers as "a critical part of oversight that provides the Intelligence Community credibility and legitimacy in our democracy." He writes, "Director Maguire should stand for the whistleblower because standing for the whistleblower is standing for the law."
Cash previously served as Senator Dianne Feinstein's designee on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and later as her Chief Counsel on the Judiciary Committee. He also served as both an Assistant General Counsel and Operations Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency.
