Day Pitney and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Northeast Chapter co-hosted a virtual roundtable, "Basic Tech and Cyber Competency for In-House Counsel," on September 23. The program featured a robust and engaging conversation led by Carrie Webb Olson, partner and head of the Trademark Copyright and Advertising practice group. Topics included exploring cyber concepts (i.e., privacy, security, and confidentiality - and the interplay between each), scenarios, and the roles and responsibilities of in-house and external counsel, as well as a Chief Information Officer's perspective, in not only planning for and responding to potential cyber incidents, but also cultivating a culture of awareness, communication and understanding across company departments.
Olson facilitated dialogue between three "Conversation Leaders," each providing unique expertise and perspectives, including: Val Ilchenko, Senior Counsel and Data Privacy Officer at LogMeIn, Inc.; Kermit Wallace, Day Pitney's Chief Information Officer; and Steven Cash, Day Pitney attorney and head of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection practice. The program was attended by approximately 30 in-house counsel members of the ACC.
