Mark Salah Morgan will be honored with the "Leading By Example Award" by Coptic Orphans at the September 24, 2017 Gala in Weehawken, New Jersey. Mark and his family volunteer their time and other resources to support the Coptic Orphans organization and to advance the interests of the Coptic community both in the United States and Egypt. In addition to being a visiting professor at the American University in Cairo, Mark serves on the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of New York and New England and also serves as a special advisor to the Coptic Archdiocese of North America. Mark is helping the Church administration navigate through the recent attacks and threats waged against the Coptic Community, including the Palm Sunday attacks in Cairo and Alexandria. Past recipients of the "Leading By Example Award" include His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, 118th Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, Egyptian businessman and billionaire Naguib Sawiris, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Liz Cheney and former NASA Scientist Dr. Farouk El-Baz. To date, Coptic Orphans has served more than 40,000 children throughout Egypt's 55 Coptic Dioceses. With more than 450 church-based volunteers serving in 675 villages across Egypt, Coptic Orphans has become the premier community service organization in Egypt.
