Industrial Internet of Things & America's Critical Energy & Transportation Infrastructure
On November 13, Day Pitney LLP and FH+H, PLLC, along with PDB FutureCom International, hosted an invitation-only program, "Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) & America's Critical Energy & Transportation Infrastructure," held at the new International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.
David Doot, partner and chair of Day Pitney's Energy and Utilities industry group, welcomed the attendees, which included investors and energy utilities as well as executive branch and Capitol Hill officials with responsibilities for critical infrastructure protection. The program focused on innovative companies developing cutting-edge technology related to protecting and enhancing the IIoT as it applies to the nation's critical infrastructure, with a primary focus on the energy and transportation sectors.
Following a keynote by Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger (USCG, ret.), former Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration, a select group of early and growth stage companies presented their technologies and business approaches to the audience. The companies included Accubeat; Electrical Grid Monitoring; enVerid; Fenix Group, Inc.; Nozomi Networks; PingThings; and SenSanna Incorporated.
Day Pitney counsel Steven Cash, who formerly served as a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff member and counsel, chief counsel to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and a CIA lawyer and operations officer, introduced Vice Admiral Neffenger as well as the presenting companies. Also attending were other Day Pitney colleagues who represent clients in the energy, family office, and venture capital and emerging growth areas, FH+H partners Adam Munitz and Jennifer Huber and other colleagues who represent clients in complex national security matters, and Paul Bloom, the principal of PDB FutureCom International who connects Israeli emerging-technology startups with North American customers and investors. The event concluded with a tour of the International Spy Museum's new location at L'Enfant Plaza led by the President of the Museum.
