Position Summary
The Private Client Department at Day Pitney LLP is seeking a full-time Trust Administrator to join the firm. Day Pitney has one of the largest private client practices in the United States, with nearly 100 estate planning attorneys. The ideal candidate for the Trust Administrator will have 5+ years of work experience administering trust accounts, servicing client needs while working in a trust department, law firm, family office or similar organization. They will demonstrate effective communication, both written and spoken, with attorneys, clients, investment professionals, bank personnel, insurance agents, etc. They will have access to sensitive client information and therefore demonstrate good judgment and discretion at all times. Trust Administrators at the firm manage high volumes of complex, detailed work-projects and must be unintimidated by deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Administer fiduciary accounts; additional experience with preparation of fiduciary income tax returns and estate administration considered a very large plus
- Understand and create financial forecasts, models, projection and analysis
- Prepare payments/distributions from client trust accounts
- Review trust account inventory records, including insurance policies, real estate and stock holdings, partnership, etc., for accuracy and correct as needed
- Administer payments and amortization schedules for loans due to and from trust accounts
- Possess a high degree of innate integrity, always acting with transparency and consistency within the framework of what is best for Day Pitney Wealth clients
- Nurture, develop and maintain professional working relationships with our clients' investment, insurance, banking and other external advisors
- Contribute to organizational best practices and policies, and where possible will seek to improve the Day Pitney Wealth Office's performance

Education, Experience and Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience administering trust accounts, working in a family office or similar
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in business, finance or a related field; JD considered a significant "plus"
- Conversant in fiduciary administration, trust accounting and investment terms, jargon and software
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in reviewing documents, analyzing data, and preparing compliance reports
- High ethical standards and integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately and maintain a high level of professionalism
- Experience with Microsoft Office, PDF software, tax software and trust accounting software (e.g., OneSource, FastTax, ProSystems, SEI, FIS, AccuTech, SunGard, etc.)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify compliance risks, evaluate complex legal and regulatory issues, and propose effective solutions
