Professional Experience
Jim Sicilian represents a broad range of business clients in trials and appeals of complex commercial disputes, including intellectual property and antitrust matters, among others. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants, ranging from multinational Fortune 500 corporations to closely held companies and individuals, in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret disputes, antitrust, and unfair trade practices cases.
Jim served as law clerk for The Honorable Thomas J. Meskill, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, 1981-82.

- Defended a major software company in a closely followed action alleging infringement of a "business method" patent relating to Internet auctions
- Successfully defended a large retail chain against antitrust and unfair trade practices allegations relating to retail site development activities
- Defended a multinational pharmaceuticals manufacturer against claims for trade secret misappropriation under the "inevitable disclosure" doctrine in connection with alleged use of information obtained during joint venture negotiations
- Represented a physician network joint venture in connection with claims brought by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Connecticut Attorney General alleging monopolization of physician and hospital services
- Prosecuted claims for violation of the Federal Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act and the Federal Trademark Dilution Act on behalf of a respected catalog mail-order company in its efforts to protect its tradename from Internet piracy
